MACHILIPATNAM: The YSR Congress Party has intensified its campaign against the alleged irregularities in the Mega DSC–2025 teacher recruitment process, demanding a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry and the resignation of Andhra Pradesh Education Minister Nara Lokesh.

YSRCP Krishna District President and former Minister Perni Venkatramaiah (Perni Nani) submitted a representation to the Joint Collector in Machilipatnam on July 31, seeking an independent investigation into the recruitment process.

Allegations raised by YSRCP

Perni Nani alleged that the recruitment process had several irregularities from the beginning. According to the allegations, the DSC Convenor appointed during the previous YSRCP government was replaced and responsibilities relating to question-paper preparation and examination management were concentrated under the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT).

He further alleged that sensitive activities such as question-paper uploading and digitisation were handled by outsourcing employees. YSRCP questioned how an outsourcing employee connected with the examination system could later emerge among the top-ranking candidates before his appointment was cancelled and a revised merit list was issued.

Sports Quota allegations

The YSRCP also raised questions over appointments made under the Sports Quota. The party alleged that changes were made to the relevant rules through government orders and later modifications were introduced.

Perni Nani questioned the transparency of the selection process and demanded that the certificates and selection details of candidates appointed under the Sports Quota be thoroughly examined. Earlier, he had specifically demanded the release of details of 421 candidates selected under the Sports Quota.

State-wide agitation announced

The issue was not limited to Krishna district. Perni Nani announced a state-wide protest programme, including representations to District Collectors, constituency-level meetings, relay hunger strikes and rallies.

The programme included relay hunger strikes from August 6 to 9 and constituency-level rallies on August 10.

Subsequently, YSRCP protests were reported across several districts, including Krishna, with police restrictions, arrests and preventive measures in some locations. Large rallies and demonstrations were also reported in Machilipatnam and Nandigama.

Government’s response

The allegations have been strongly contested by the ruling side. The DSC issue later became a major political controversy in the State, with the government defending the recruitment process while YSRCP continued demanding an independent investigation.

On August 20, YSRCP chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy again challenged the government to order a CBI probe into DSC and Group-I recruitment, keeping the issue alive in the political debate.

Latest development

The controversy continued into the August Legislative Council and Assembly sessions, with YSRCP leaders demanding a discussion and CBI investigation. On August 17, YSRCP MLC Lella Appi Reddy demanded that Education Minister Nara Lokesh answer questions regarding the alleged DSC irregularities and again called for a CBI probe.
